Forum Rules
Welcome to the My Story List forums. By posting here, you agree to follow these rules. Moderators may edit, lock, move, or delete posts and issue warnings or bans for violations.
1. Be Respectful
- No personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, or slurs of any kind.
- No targeting users based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, disability, or appearance.
- Disagree with the idea, not the person. Heated debate is fine; cruelty is not.
2. Use Spoiler Tags
- Wrap any plot reveal, ending, or major twist in SPOILER tags.
- This applies to books, films, shows, and games... even older ones.
- Spoiler-heavy threads should say so clearly in the title.
3. Stay On Topic
- Post in the section that fits your topic. Off-topic threads may be moved or closed.
- Don't derail discussions. Start a new thread if your tangent deserves one.
4. No Spam or Self-Promotion
- No advertising, referral links, affiliate links, or unsolicited promotion.
- Authors may discuss their own work in designated areas only, and never in a way that dominates the forum.
- No bumping threads, no one-word replies, no copy-paste spam.
- No begging threads or repeated requests for credits.
5. No Illegal or Harmful Content
- No piracy links, cracked downloads, or requests for them.
- No content that is sexually explicit or graphically violent.
- No doxxing, threats, encouragement of self-harm, or illegal activity.
6. Keep It Civil in Disagreements
- Critique books, ideas, and arguments. Not the people making them.
- No flame wars, no pile-ons, no mob-style call-outs.
- If a discussion turns hostile, walk away and report it instead of escalating.
7. Respect Privacy
- Do not share private messages, personal information, or screenshots of either without consent.
- Do not post anyone's real name, address, workplace, or contact info.
8. Use the Report Button
- If you see a rule violation, report it. Do not engage publicly with trolls or bad-faith posters.
- Do not "backseat moderate." Let the staff handle enforcement.
9. Follow Moderator Decisions
If a moderator asks you to stop, stop. You can appeal a decision through private message, not in public threads.
Arguing with moderation in-thread, or evading actions taken against you, will extend penalties.
Enforcement
Violations may result in post removal, formal warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans depending on severity and history. Severe offenses (threats, doxxing, ban evasion, anything illegal) result in immediate permanent bans without warning.
Rules may be updated at any time. Continued use of the forums constitutes acceptance of the current version.
