Rare Swords Are Only Good Until You Lose Them (Tipsy Pelican Tavern #3)

Heart-wrenchingly, gut-twistingly, throat-dryingly so.

They'd tell you that if you were a red-blooded young man, of say about nineteen years old, and you caught her looking at you, you'd find your heart thumping and your mind blanker than a southern sky.

Then, after a good long detailed explanation of her beauty, because people tended to dwell on such things, they'd tell you about what she was like. And if the person doing the explaining was one of our regulars, you'd probably never get them to shut up.

They'd tell you that she was "one of the boys." That she could out drink you and your friend and your friend's friend. Combined. They'd tell you she was a riot. That when she laughed at a good joke, she never covered her face as polite young ladies are expected to do. She'd lean back and howl, pounding the table with her fist. They'd tell you she was open to any subject, and if she disagreed with your opinion, she'd give you a full account and thrive off the debate.

They'd also warn you to never get on her bad side. Especially when she had a couple dozen drinks. She could fly into a mad rage at a drop of a hat, with the strength of three grown men and the anger of a demon. And on that topic, they'd tell you about all the tables split and windows broken because one of her fists sent someone through them. Usually deservingly so. Usually.
