Gweneth de Lance is no stranger to the training yard or the weight of a sword. Raised in a noble household on the edge of a large forest, she is as skilled with her blade as she is loyal to her cause. When the call of the Crusade reaches England, Gweneth joins the ranks of King Richard the Lionheart, determined to prove herself not only as a knight, but as a servant of honor, justice, and faith. From castle sieges to forest ambushes, her courage is tested time and again, but it is the choices of the heart and the bonds of friendship that demand her greatest strength.
As the Crusaders cross the seas into the sun-scorched lands of the Holy Land, Gweneth finds herself caught in a world of shifting alliances, noble enemies, and fierce battles. Among Saladin’s forces and within the courts of kings, she discovers that valor can wear many faces and that the ideals of chivalry are often easier sworn than lived. Yet through every trial, Gweneth’s name rises—spoken with respect by her comrades and with awe by those who stand against her.
This is the tale of a young knight whose path winds through loyalty, sacrifice, and war, where the strength of character is as vital as the strength of steel. With vivid historical detail, sweeping adventure, and a heroine who defies expectations by simply living true to herself, this story brings the past to life in a journey that is as stirring as it is timeless.
