Proximity (The ICHO Wars #1)

Former U.S. Army Special Forces operative, codenamed Bishop, is one of a few old relics left of his home country. In a post-nuclear armageddon world, Bishop struggles to support himself and his son—the only family he has left. Bishop clings to normalcy living as a mercenary in the Middle East, whose war-torn deserts are a safe haven compared to the nuclear radiation covering the rest of the globe. Only splinters of the U.S. remain to defend withered remnants of peace. That peace is shattered when terrorists hijack a secret U.S. weapons facility in the remote Syrian desert. Bishop’s skills as a stealth infiltrator are requested by shady business tycoon turned U.S. Army Director of Operations, Richard Ramar, a man more interested in his investments than honorable service. In exchange for Bishop’s freedom and survival, Ramar makes two assassinate the terrorist leader, and retrieve a secret weapon inside the facility that will change mankind’s future… what little is left of it.
